The Solea laser lets Dr. Reddy do many fillings in Dripping Springs with no numbing injection and no drill. For patients who dread the needle, it changes what a dental visit feels like.
What is the Solea laser?
Solea is a dental laser that works on both teeth and soft tissue. In place of a drill, it removes decay with a beam of light, and for many patients the laser itself keeps the tooth comfortable, so the visit needs no shot and you leave without a numb lip for the rest of the day.
What we use it for
Needle-free fillings
Many fillings can be done with the laser alone: no needle, no drill, and no lingering numbness. Some deeper cavities still need a little local anesthetic, and Dr. Reddy will tell you before he starts.
Tongue-tie and lip-tie release
The laser makes frenectomies gentler than the scalpel-and-scissors approach, with minimal bleeding.
Snoring
The laser can tighten soft tissue at the back of the throat to improve airflow and reduce snoring. It’s one of the options in our snoring and airway care, with little recovery time.
Why laser dentistry is different at Forest Springs Dentistry
- More comfortable. For many procedures, no needle at all.
- Faster visits. Less time in the chair and no waiting for numbness to set in or wear off.
- Precise. Less disturbance to the surrounding tissue, and quicker healing.
- Clean. The laser kills bacteria as it works.
Frequently asked questions about laser dentistry
Does the Solea laser hurt?
Most patients find it comfortable. If you feel anything you don’t like, tell us and we’ll stop; a little local anesthetic is always an option.
Can every filling be done with the laser?
Not every one. Some deeper cavities still need a little local anesthetic, and Dr. Reddy will tell you before he starts.
Is the laser a good option if I’m anxious about the dentist?
For many people, yes. No needle and no drill noise takes away two of the things anxious patients dread most.
